Timid medical trainee Shoji Date finds himself heading to Antarctica due to an unexpected turn of events. What awaits him there is an extremely cold survival environment not found in Japan. And then there's the unruly and reckless captain of the observation team, Oniyama Ryuichi. Date is constantly at the mercy of Oniyama, a former member of the Self-Defense Forces, and spends his days in a state of chaos, but he gradually becomes drawn to Oniyama's humanity and survival skills...
