The story takes place in France in the early 1800s (at the end of the era of absolute monarchy). Lucas works at "Avenir," a pastry store with a café in the suburbs of Paris, where he delivers sweets. This is a wonderful humanistic comedy about Lucas and the citizens of Paris, who are living vividly in this turbulent time.
