The story is set on an island where a boy who successfully stows away on a ship finds himself stranded, a graveyard of stranded ships. The mysterious words and actions of the boy's father, the island's lighthouse keeper, lead to more mysteries, and the events unfold around the lighthouse. A series of interviews with the author, the first in four years, are included as an appendix
