Naoya Tōdō is an ordinary high school student who suddenly awakens in a mysterious white room alongside twelve other people. The thirteen have been selected as candidates to become gods and are sent to live in another world, each possessing a unique cheat ability and a divine artifact. Naoya, however, couldn't care less about becoming a god. His old life was boring enough, and now that he's been given the chance to start over somewhere completely new, he intends to enjoy himself. His unique ability, “Item Duplication,” allows him to create copies of objects he touches. By using it on legendary divine treasures, Naoya essentially begins his adventure with a complete set of ridiculously powerful equipment. Rather than competing seriously with the other god candidates, he sets off to enjoy his new freedom. But his supposedly carefree adventure quickly becomes complicated when he encounters eccentric companions such as a debt-ridden alchemist and a quiet spirit user, dragging him into conflicts and trouble despite his best efforts. Armed with an absurdly useful duplication ability and some of the strongest equipment in the world, Naoya begins a chaotic second life where becoming a god is optional, but enjoying another world is mandatory.
