The story takes place eighty years after the first Macross story, and Earth has been successfully keeping the enemy Zentraedi at bay with recordings of pop songs. However, the enemy's own singers have how arrived and in this story one of them is captured by a shallow young journalist and brought to Earth, causing changes in the singer, the journalist and the war.
